Careerality ("we", "our", "the app") is built to help people explore career paths using real data. We take your privacy seriously and have designed the app to collect as little data as possible.
What We Collect
Careerality collects only the data necessary for the app to function:
- Career preferences — When you swipe on careers, we store which careers you liked or skipped and optionally why. This data is linked to a random identifier generated on your device.
- Device identifier — A random UUID stored locally on your device (in localStorage on web, AsyncStorage on mobile). This is not linked to your name, email, Apple ID, or any personal identity.
What We Do NOT Collect
- Your name, email address, or any personal identifiers
- Location data (state filtering is manual; we do not access your GPS)
- Contacts, photos, camera, or any other device sensors
- Analytics or tracking data
- Advertising identifiers
- Usage analytics or crash reports
How Your Data Is Used
Your career preferences are used solely to personalize your experience within the app. Swipe history stays on your device and in our database linked only to your random identifier. We do not sell, share, or monetize this data in any way.
Data Storage & Security
Your swipe data is stored on our servers in a PostgreSQL database. We use industry-standard security practices. We do not transmit your data to third parties.
Data Deletion
You can delete all your data at any time from within the app:
- Open the side menu (hamburger icon)
- Tap "Delete My Data"
- Confirm the deletion
This permanently removes all your swipe history from our servers. The action cannot be undone. You can also contact us to request manual deletion.
Children's Privacy
Careerality does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not require account creation and collects no personally identifiable information from any user.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.
